As today in downtown Toronto proves, Winter 2011 is not ready to leave gracefully.  However, though there is a bit of snow still on the ground, there are still some early looks towards spring.  We love looking ahead to great vintage-look flats in neutrual colours.

For the slightly cooler days, there is still time to show off capes and lots of knits.  This lovely duo are visitors from London that found our store on Queen.  We’re going to miss the heavier weight wool capes and leg-warmers as spring approaches.

Portrait of a Vintage Cocktail Bride by The Caketress, Rowell Photography and Cabaret

A short while ago The Caketress, Lori Hutchinson had the wonderful idea of a photo shoot at Cabaret with two of her incredible cakes that were inspired by The Cabaret Collection Dresses.  We were very excited and jumped at the opportunity.  We had the pleasure of having Rowell Photography visit the store and take this fantastic photo-story of a ‘Cocktail Bride’ with The Caketress creations .  The beautiful Nancy Ghurman models two of our Cabaret Collection dresses (The Bubble Dress and The Truffle Dress) and poses with the inspired cakes designed and made by The Caketress, Lori Hutchinson.

Wedding season is upon us and for the modern bride finding a dress that reflects their personal style can be a challenge when faced with large hoop skirts and corseted bodices. Many brides are now looking for a dress that is more of a cocktail dress and more classically styled rather than fantasy with long trains and many yards of fabric.  The Cabaret Collection of dresses for brides can be best be described as perfect for The Cocktail Bride.  Less traditional than the typical wedding gown, this style of dress has classic silhouettes and compliments the new style of wedding that couples are frequently favoring.  After all, its hard to manage a bustle with a floor-length hem during a sunset beach ceremony or fabulous cocktail reception.   Andrew Sardone of Now Magazine wrote a piece not so long ago about The Cocktail Bride and featured some of our Cabaret Dresses.  Thanks Andrew!

Thanks to Brandd and Cheval for having us on Thursday for a great photoshoot.  Not only were the models lovely; the party afterwards was fantastic!  More pictures to come.

Deceptively subdued, this piece is one of those dresses that shows better on a body than a hanger.  A 1960s original, this dress has antique lace and a very unusual chiffon detail.  The chiffon is draped just at the bottom of the sikrt and has its own seperate movement.  From the back (sorry no picture) it drapes even more and looks fantastic while walking.

Meet Finn and his fantastic mom.  Not only is she stunningly beautiful out shopping for a vintage dress that will allow her the movement and comfort she requires for an upcoming wedding, but she also looks fantastic in this 70s inspired grey jersey dress.

On Friday, this lovely lady came in looking for the perfect dress to wear to an early summer wedding.  Her criteria:  Something Bright, Fun, and One Of A Kind.

This green silk 1960s vintage garden dress fit the bill perfectly.  We know that she will be turning heads in this unforgettable dress.

What’s Warm and Green All Over? Well that would have to be this lovely lady in her gaberdine spring coat. Love the length and the fantastic sleeves!

It was a bit colder when this picture was taken, but it only shows that temperature is no reason not to look hot.
