Janna Polzin in a 70's inspired Jersey dress from Cabaret for The Doras

When Janna Polzin, walked through our doors looking for a dress for The Dora Awards this past weekend, we had a wonderful time with her finding the perfect look.  After a few different options were explored, Janna found this dress was the one for her and we think she looks spectacular!

Janna is appearing as an alternate in The Sound of Music and was part of the huge search last year for the title role of Maria documented on the series “How do you solve a problem like Maria?”. Check out Janna’s Blog for her post on her experience getting ready for the red carpet.  Also if you are in toronto see The Sound of Music now playing at The Princess of Wales Theatre.

Cabaret Vintage Streetstyle: Matchmade in Style Heaven

Now, this is one of our favorite matches of client and dress recently. This dress has been patiently waiting for the right person to take it home for quite a few months at the store (you may recognize it from some earlier New Arrivals pictures) but never found the right match. And then one of our favorite lovely ladies came in and saw the potential of this dress. With some minor hem alterations, its now headded off to a fantastic event.

Vintage Barbra Streisand: Fanny Brice the Funny Girl

There has always been a place in my heart for Ms. Fanny Brice, the Zigfield Girl who made it big.  The movie Funny Girl inspired by her life was the first great hit in 1968 starting Barbra Streisand.  In addition to being an entertaining film to watch it has 40s inspired 60s fashions.  Every scene showcases a drool-inducing new piece of vintage glamor.  From hats and gloves, to the over the top Chorus Girl number outfits it is a time capsule and a great example of how clothes can make a movie.

If you are a lover of clothes, vintage or otherwise Funny Girl is a movie that you have to see (or see again).
