Fun and flirty, this little black dress is reminicient of a sailor-style uniform but done in a polished way. It has lovely box pleats in the skirt and great design detailing at the bodices with strategic cuts in the pieces to create a patterned design. The collar is not overwealming and overall its the balanced proportions of the dress that makes it work so well.

January Vintage Fashion Notes from Cabaret
Posted on | January 19, 2010 | No Comments
With mild weather in 2009, looking out on Queen St. Here in Toronto it seems that winter has finally arrived. However we at Cabaret look forward to the change in season if only for the chance to wear fantastic cold-weather accessories! Of course there are fantastic standards such as coats and capes (one of our vintage fur and wool coats are pictured about) but don’t forget the smaller details. Adding a touch of vintage glam is easy with elbow length gloves, wraps, and of course wool hats. Don’t forget colour as well, a well placed oversized silk vintage scarf can brighten your winter wear when most choose to wear the classic black or brown coat.
However you choose to stay warm this winter, never forget you can still look fabulous doing it.

As this label states, this piece is an original Irish Knit we’ve dated it somewhere between late 1960 to early 1970. Hand loomed, this knit dress is an example of how perfection is in the details. Check out the beautiful strong stitches at the neckline. This is one of the reasons why this particular piece has survived the decades in such fantastic condition.
