Cabaret Vintage on Fashion Television

Posted on | January 24, 2011 | No Comments

Here are some beautiful stills of a shoot taken for Fashion Television recently.  The vintage classic car featured is a fantastic match for the 1950′s Tulle Prom-style gown from our collection.  The other shots show the model (the lovely Genevieve) in a combination of original vintage pieces from the store from the 1930s to 1960s.

The final television piece is available on Fashion Television’s website.

Cabaret Vintage on Style Me Pretty with A Simple Picture

Posted on | January 22, 2011 | No Comments

StyleMePretty.com is a fantastic resource for inspiration when wedding planning.  We were honored to be invited to provide looks for a Bohemian-inspired wedding shoot by A Simple Photograph featuring fantastic rentals by Hazlitt Vintage Rentals.  The whole tone of the shoot was brought to life by vintage props and pieces and the rustic outdoor atmosphere was truly a unique experience.

Cabaret Vintage Toronto styled our models, Katie and Eric.  Cabaret is a vintage clothing company that has been known to style a wedding or two in their day!  Most of what they carry in their shop is authentic vintage clothing, but they also have designed a wedding line that is modern but vintage inspired (http://www.cabaretvintage.com/category/bridal-the-cabaret-collection-wedding-dresses/) .  Tao provided Katie with elements of both old and new!  She wore three bridal looks though out the shoot.

The first was “The Baby Doll”.   A vintage inspired gown that Tao paired with a black velvet cape circa 1960.  The second was a beaded shift dress, which I believe was also a 1960′s gown.  This was paired with a vintage mink and finally Katie wore the dress she sported at her own wedding to Eric earlier this year, “The Soiree”.  This is also a vintage inspired dress that Tao paired with yet another mink.  Katie was gorgeous!  Eric’s look was masculine rugged and bohemian. Stylist Leith Clark on shopping and Vintage

Posted on | January 20, 2011 | No Comments

We love the opportunity to see former local Leith Clark now that she’s mostly abroad in the fashion centres of London, Paris and Italy.  Its also fantastic to know that she still thinks of us as well.  Here’s an excerpt from a recent interview with the international stylist in FASHION Magazine. Join our Guest List at the top right corner of the screen for updates on our parties, events, celebrity visits, and special sales!

How do you beat the winter blues? “I don’t get them; I love snow. I live in England, so I miss Canadian winters a lot. I love the burrowing. Everyone needs to burrow with blankets, cashmere, tea and movies.”

Where do you go vintage shopping in Toronto? “My favourite store is Cabaret. I love the boy that works there—I love that he has special things that he always thinks you’ll like.”

Best city to shop in? “Paris.”

Where will we find you? “Bon Marché, Miu Miu, Chanel, Les Archives de la Presse, Serge Lutens, Isabel Marant, Ladurée, Sonia Rykiel and Colette. But I like the Japanese cakes at Toraya more than shopping itself.”
