Its always a pleasure having Jill Barber in the store.  Its especially grand that she made the time for a visit during the launch of her new CD.  Check out this great clip from Etalk as Jill tries out a variety of vintage look a la some of history’s most talented songstresses.

Cabaret Vintage New Arrival: 1960′s Ribbon Tunic Top in Gold

This top is so versatile there is no limit on what it can be paired with.  The perfect travel coordinate, it can be dressed down with jeans or taken to a formal event when paired with a lovely black chiffon skirt.  The construction is flawless and unusual being a ‘ribbon’ fabric.  Lovely delicate ribbons are formed and stitched on floral and swirl patterns on a net-like base of fabric.  Under the top, there is light chiffon lining for comfort and durability.  For more details and images, take a look at this piece in our online boutique.

New Vintage Arrival: 1940′s Silk Organza and Lace Dress with Collar Accent AP

Subtle detail is the order of the day with this 1940′s original. The foundation of it all is a beautiful silk dress with a round skirt and a sweetheart neckline. Layered on top is an airy silk organza skirt that is carried to the top in a deep v that starts at the front and continues to the back creating a faux bateau look. To add to the modest look of the dress a very fine lace is used to cover the bodice and forms a high-necked collar that finished off in a light knot at the nape of the neck. Though there is a lot happening in the dress in details, the overall look of the piece is unified and quite beautiful.

This dress is an vintage a-line beauty from the lauded St. Regis Room (Simpson’s Department Store) Private Label.  The sunny gold colour shimmers slightly from the fine weave of raw silk.  In fantastic condition!
