As this label states, this piece is an original Irish Knit we’ve dated it somewhere between late 1960 to early 1970.  Hand loomed, this knit dress is an example of how perfection is in the details.  Check out the beautiful strong stitches at the neckline.  This is one of the reasons why this particular piece has survived the decades in such fantastic condition.

Firstly, these pictures do not do this particular dress justice.  Its beautiful colours and soft sheen do not seem to want to be captured by the lense!  The highlight of the dress, also seems a bit hidden.  The whole front area is comprised of a large bow that makes the bodice, its a very interesting design and so subtle in appearence due to the print it is a great touch.

I have two favorite things about this particular dress – first the fact that its comprised of 100% linen.  Its rare to find even newly constructed garments in linen that have a colour this vivid.  The second is the contrasting white cotton trim that draws the eye to the vertical and elongates the body.  This dress is a lot of fun and perfect if you have some figure areas that you would rather downplay.

More polka-dots today, this time from the 60’s in cotton.  This particular dress is darling, with the designer making the most of the use of contrasting the dots in a very symetrical pattern.  The black on white and white on black are very striking combinations with the addition of superb tailoring.
